Colonel Michael Manion

Commander, 55th Wing, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska

Col. Michael H. Manion is the Commander, 55th Wing, Offutt AFB, Neb. He is responsible for organizing, training, and equipping six groups and 31 squadrons executing worldwide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; electronic attack; command and control; presidential support; and treaty verification missions. He is also responsible for base support to more than 50 associate units, including U.S. Strategic Command, 557th Weather Wing, and more than 57,000 active-duty members, civilians, family members and retirees.

Colonel Manion received his commission in 1995 as a distinguished graduate of the ROTC program at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He has served in a variety of flying, staff and command assignments and has deployed extensively. Some of his deployments include participation in Operations Allied Force, Joint Forge, Enduring Freedom, Autumn Return, Iraqi Freedom, Unified Response and Unified Protector.

Colonel Manion is a master navigator and electronic warfare officer with more than 2,400 flying hours, including 585 combat hours, in the EC-130H, MC-130H, and RC-135V/W.
