Bob Bergman

Mr. Bob Bergman, CAPT, USN (ret)

Bob is a retired Navy Captain and government contractor with 30+ years of experience in Electromagnetic Maneuver Warfare (EMW), Electronic Warfare (EW), Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO), Cryptology, and Cyberspace Operations.

Bob was commissioned in 1984. He completed flight school and received orders to VQ-1 Guam to fly reconnaissance missions as a Mission Commander in the EP-3 Aries in 1986. In 1989 he returned to Pensacola FL to teach at the Aviation EW school, where he was selected as the Officer Instructor of the Year at Corry Station in 1990.

In 1991 Bob applied for and received a lateral transfer to Cryptology and in 1992 served in a variety of cryptologic jobs at NSGA Misawa Japan. In 1995, Bob went to sea as the Cryptologic Resource Coordinator (CRC) at Commander, Carrier Group ONE in San Diego.

Bob then went back to his aviation roots as the Plank-holder XO at NSGA Whidbey Island, WA. There he liaised with the EP-3 community and assisted with development of full-spectrum Electronic Attack for the EA-6B Prowlers stationed there.

In 2000 Bob went to the Naval War College, where he received his Masters degree and in 2001 was selected for an NSA fellowship and reported to FT Meade MD to work on the Director’s Staff. Subsequently he worked as the Executive Assistant to the NSA Chief of Staff and as the strategic lead for counter-terrorism in Asia Pacific.

After his promotion to Captain, Bob was ordered to Norfolk, VA as the Naval Network Warfare Command Requirements and Assessments Officer (N8) in 2005. Bob retired in February 2009.

In his new life as a government contractor, Bob was hired by General Dynamics to do Cyberspace Exercise Development for Joint Forces Command in Suffolk VA for four years.

In 2013, Bob made the move back to the Navy. He was hired to support the Fleet EW Center (FEWC), where he wrote Concepts and Conops on EWBM and EMW and assisted with transfer of the FEWC into the new Naval Information Warfighting Development Center (NIWDC).

Bob currently works for Frontier Technology, Inc., headquartered in Dayton, OH. He is married to his college sweetheart and has six beautiful children.
