David Stupples is Professor of Electronic and Radio Systems at City, University of London and Director of Electronic Warfare Systems Research. He is a scientific advisor to the UK Govenment on Electronic Intelligence (ELINT), Cyber Intelligence and Communications Intelligence (COMINT). He is also a member of the Defence Scientific Council (DSAC) and has scientific and engineering appontments with a number of companies specialising in Radar and Electronic Warfare.. He began his working career in the Royal Air Force concentrating on radar systems and airborne ELINT. He moved to research and development at the Royal Radar Establishment (RRE and later RSRE) Malvern, then to Hughes Aircraft Corporation in California, and then on to NATO research. He has a particular focus in electronic intelligence and communications intelligence employed on both airborne and satellite platforms. He immediate research is on micro-satellite based electronic reconnaissance. He also has an interest in how university education will produce electronic warfare specialists in the future given the demanding mathematics and physics knowledge required.
