Call for Papers

The 57th Annual AOC International Symposium and Convention theme is "All-Domain Operations - Integrating Across the Spectrum". The AOC is soliciting unclassified, Distro-A, original papers from Government, Academia, Industry, Operational Units, and Subject Matter Experts that will be presented at the Annual Symposium. Papers should focus on awareness of the spectrum, understanding its properties, its role in modern day operations, and the ability to command and control effects and operations within the spectrum to fully strategize, plan, and execute all-domain operations.

Paper submissions should focus on the following topic areas:

  • ADO Enablers: Communications links, advanced waveforms, and measures taken to ensure resilience for operations in the EMS domain.
  • ADO Spectrum Awareness (C2/IPB/Awareness): Methods, measures, sensors focused on developing awareness of the entities operating in the domain and how to distribute that information to users.
  • Manned-Unmanned Teaming: Advances or efforts in teaming man and unmanned assets to ensure operations within the EMS or deny others access to the domain.
  • ADO Battle Management: Concepts or efforts to maintain awareness of and provide tasking, monitoring of execution, and assessing performance of efforts within the EMS.
  • Collaborative EW: Efforts or concepts that strive to enable operations within the EMS by utilizing multiple nodes gain synergistic effects.
  • Space EW in ADO: Efforts to integrate or synchronize Space EW with terrestrial assets
  • Directed Energy: Status of efforts to operationalize High Power microwave, laser energy, or electro-magnetic pulse.


IMPORTANT 2020 DATES: (dates are proposed for initial planning purposes only and are subject to change. Actual dates are expected to fall on or within 7 – 10 days of listed dates)

Deadline for Submission of Paper Abstracts: July 31

Notification of Acceptance: August 31

Submission Information

Email the following information to the AOC Symposium Abstracts Review Committee at belicev@crows.org.

  • Title of proposed brief
  • Name of presenter and organization represented
  • One or two short paragraphs describing the scope of the brief
  • One or two short paragraphs describing the credibility of the presenter on this subject
  • Headshot of presenter (minimum 800x800 pixels)
  • Presenter Introductory Bio (maximum 25-50 words)

Note: Company and product briefs will not be accepted.

Presentations are limited to 20-25 minutes including questions and answers. Time limits are strictly enforced to keep the program on schedule.

Selections will be based upon whether the submission meets the theme, vision and expected discussion outcome of an individual session as established by the Session Chair and the AOC Symposium Committee. Speakers selected will be notified of their provisional acceptance by the end of August or as soon as all slots are filled. Back-up speakers will also be recognized on the printed program and will be listed on the web and final program page regardless of speaking status.

To be included on the symposium program; each speaker must take steps to clear their presentation with their agency and/or company management to prevent disclosure of proprietary or classified information. Acceptance must be assured prior to final scheduling in August.

In September each selected speaker will be mailed a comprehensive Speakers Guide from AOC. It will contain detailed information on what to submit for final reproduction and information for a complimentary registration for the presenter.
