Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Joe “JJ” Johnson completed of the USAF Electronic Warfare Officer School in 1989 and has been an avid Old Crow ever since. He has over 20 years of USAF operational and staff experience on a variety of platforms spanning the end of the Cold War to transformational non-kinetic weapons in the Global War on Terror. His experience includes duties as a Tomahawk Ground Launched Cruise Missile (GLCM) Launch Officer, F-111F Weapon Systems Officer and two-tours flying the USN’s EA-6B Prowler as an Electronic Counter Measures Officer.
He served as the Air Combat Command (ACC) Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses Requirements Officer setting the requirements of soon-to-field EW systems. He also was the ACC lead in the watershed Airborne Electronic Attack Analysis of Alternatives advocating AF and Joint Airpower needs. As The AF’s EA-6B Unit Commander, he mentored his people to stardom in Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom embedded in USN Expeditionary EA-6B Squadrons. Since leaving the AF he is the founder and President of AEA Inc, providing EW & IO expertise and engineering support services to commercial and government entities. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, holds a Masters Degree and is a lifelong Pacific NW resident. He was elected to the AOC Board of Directors in 2006.
